Stupid teenage girls. I know there are at least a few that are actually going for the piece itself, but this just makes me angry. I have always had a very deep love for literature what with having two authors in the family, and I find the antics insulting. It shouldn’t matter who is playing who or what for that matter. I can’t say too much about stupid teenage girls since I’m nineteen, but I’ve grown up and am in my second year of college. So for that, fuck off. Now I’m in a bad mood because of this shit. Okay, RANT OVER. 😡😤😒

Dear Shakespeare-Lovers,
No need to complain about Cumberbatch’s fanbase buying Hamlet tickets.
a) Same as with the demographics of    Tumblr    in general, it probably would surprise you how many of Cumberbatch’s followers are in the 30 to 60 years’ range [ just for example : myself - I am 50 years old ].
b) Many have sat in the audience of Shakespeare theatre productions before. Having an appreciation for Shakespeare and having an appreciation for the acting craft of Mr. Benedict Cumberbatch are not mutually exclusive.
c) When Sir Laurence Olivier played Hamlet, or when Sir Derek Jacobi played Hamlet, a major part of their audiences had come to see those actors in that role, and not just any Hamlet. Why should it be any different with Benedict Cumberbatch, who has years of experience as a theatre actor under his belt ?
d) Regardless of the motivation behind coming, horizons get expanded, and maybe even new interests will get awakened …
e) Even newcomers to the theatre seats can learn theatre etiquette, I daresay most of them possess a natural reticience and politeness anyway.

It’s always nice for this 40+ year old to be referred to as a teenager. You guarantee? Really? Piss off Kimberley Percy Clark whoever the fuck you are. Generalizations such as yours are what’s disgusting.

Mwahahahahahahaha!! 47 here.

oh dear.

As somebody who is doing a degree in English literature and has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, I really really hope that some of the people going have no interest in Shakespeare right now and that seeing their idol playing one of his most famous characters inspires them to look into more of his work. Also, your generalisation of young women as vapid and only interested in attractive men is gross and wrong.

Also fuck right off for thinking that teens can’t love shakespeare too.

so fucking what if there are teenage girls in the audience who are only there to see cumberbatch? When I was a freshman in a theatre arts class, I watched Shakespearean adaptations because I loved the actors that were in them not because i wanted to watch one of his plays as a movie, and now im working towards a degree in theatre arts and shakespeare is one of my favorites to perform. who knows, maybe the same will happen here with these teenage girls, i fucking hope so

Zelda fans: please consider contacting Nintendo (you can use this form) and suggesting that they dedicate Zelda U to Robin Williams. Given his love for the series, I feel that would be an appropriate gesture, and if a lot of people get in touch saying they’d like to see that, it may actually get some momentum.
